Jarl started ballroom dancing at the age of only 5 years old and
has competed internationally since the age of 10. At the age of
16 he founded Kristiansand Danse Klubb in Norway. This club is
still very active today in Dance sport recruiting champions of all
ages who compete with Norway and Europe's dance elite. Some
of Jarl's performing credits include the Walt Disney World touring
production of Beauty and the Beast, the film "Let It Be Me"
and the TV
commercial for Cabaret on Broadway with Terri Hatcher and
Bridget Fonda. Jarl also choreographed the hit musical "Cats" at
a Regional Theatre in Norway.
Jarl has held courses for Bally Sports clubs, Bally Total Fitness
and New York Sports Clubs. Some of these include Latin dance,
Wedding dance and Ten dance (5 Latin dances; Cha Cha,
Rhumba, Samba, Jive, Paso Doble and 5 International standards;
Waltz, Tango, Quickstep, Slow Foxtrot and Viennese Waltz). As a
dance presenter, Jarl also taught dance at the World Spinning
and Sports Conference in Miami 2004 and 2005.
Jarl received much of his New York training at Dancesport
Manhattan, the studio where Al Pacino trained for his role in the
movie "Scent of a Woman." Jarl is professionally trained by Latin
Dance World Champions Geir Bakke and Cathrin Anderson, Ten
Dance World Champions Raymond and Gunn Myhrengen, and
world-renowned Ballroom Dance coach and Judge Patti Troy, as
well as several Norwegian and German coaches to many world
champions.
